About the Dhari–Ambardi Safari Park trip
Ambardi Safari Park — the Ambardi Wildlife Interpretation Zone — is the closest lion safari to Dhari, barely 7 km out on the banks of the Shetrunji river. Opened in 2017 to ease the crowds on the core Gir forest, it is a fenced stretch of savannah-type grassland spanning some 365 hectares where Asiatic lions roam, so sightings are near-certain.
Because it is right on Dhari's doorstep, Ambardi is the easiest wildlife trip we run — perfect for a morning or evening safari without giving up a whole day. The tour runs in a forest department bus on a fixed loop, so there is no permit hunting; we drop you at the gate for your slot and wait while you take the ride. It pairs naturally with Sasan Gir, the Devaliya zone or Tulsishyam for a fuller day in the forest.
What to see at Ambardi Safari Park

- Savannah-type grassland — Open, undulating scrubland on the Shetrunji river — an eastern extension of Gir.
- Lions, leopards & more — Asiatic lions alongside leopard, chinkara, nilgai, spotted deer and rich birdlife.
- Minutes from Dhari — The nearest lion safari to town — ideal for a short morning or evening outing.
